DISNEY UNVEILS STAR WARS LAND MODEL AT D23 EXPO

Earlier tonight, during a special preview of D23 Expo 2017, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Bob Chapek unveiled a first look at a model of the highly anticipated Star Wars-themed lands currently under construction at the Disneyland park in Anaheim, Calif. and Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. And it looks incredible.

Both Star Wars-themed lands will transport guests to a remote trading port on a never-before-seen planet in the Star Wars Universe, where they will find two main attractions. One that will allow guests to pilot the Millennium Falcon on a customized mission, and the second a Star Wars adventure that places the guests right in the middle of a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.

Take a look:

During the big reveal, Chapek added, “To say we are excited for the Star Wars-themed lands to open in 2019 is an understatement. All along, we have said this will be game-changing, and through the model we can begin to see how truly epic these immersive new worlds will be.”

Chapek also plans to share additional new details about the project during the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Hall D23 Presentation on Saturday.

First Look: Sneak a Peek at Disney Park's Star Wars Land-Inspired Model

The Star Wars Land model will remain on display in the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts’ “A Galaxy of Stories” pavilion at D23 Expo throughout the weekend to give attendee’s an up-close look at the epic new Lands. In addition to the massive model of the entire land, the pavilion will display first looks at some of the locations, starships, creatures, and droids that guests will encounter when they visit this new planet.

The new Star Wars-themed lands will make up the largest single-themed land expansions in Disney history at 14 acres each, and both lands will open in 2019.

Disney Parks around the world already feature several Star Wars themed attractions like Star Tours – The Adventures Continue, and Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple, but I for one cannot wait until 2019.
