I think it was an underwhelming reveal to be honest. When he displayed laser vision and basically told superman that he taught him better than that, i automatically knew who it as. I have been saying this for months now that i knew who it was. They made it too obvious. To say their “clues” were too obscure to decipher would be an insult to anyone’s intelligence. However, i am interested in how they are going to go forward with this story line.

I’m mainly curious to see where they go from here with it as well. I mean something like this changes Superman’s whole mythos. Apparently though, everything will be revealed by issue 991. I can not wait!

I actually was speculating this one! Cool reveal, but they’re really gonna need some crazy cool story to explain for why he’s still alive, on earth, and what his intentions are. Any theories?

I’m thinking Dr Manhattan brought him back to life somehow or saved him. Purely to mess with Superman as he’s clearly been the center of DC Rebirth. I’m just hoping it’s not a double twist thing.

That sounds both likely and awesome. If they double twist this I’ll be very upset. I think this is DC’s chance to take the greatest elements of pre and post New 52 and just smash them together into one bundle of goodness. I feel like lately a lot of comic titles (particularly marvel, which I’m normally a huge fan of) are living by the idea that new and/or different equals better–in reality, we kinda just want things to go back to the way they were–I don’t need a new version of a character every five issues or some universal threat that requires yet another huge crossover. I kinda just want to read about Batman going on a complex hunt for the Riddler, or Spider-Man fighting a symbiote. I don’t know about everyone else, but that’s my stance on the matter.

Yeah, DC And Marvel around 2010/2011 were like “You know what? Lets change things and make things all different and new for a new generation”. The problem is the reason why these characters stand the test of time is because they never really change much. They were created with concepts and ideas that will stand the test of time. So there’s no real reason to change that. Do you have to update certain aspects here an there to stay relevant? Sure, but you don’t have to change entire origin stories or motivations for a character. DC realized that and now we have Rebirth. Marvel seems to also be realizing that hence the upcoming Marvel Legacy stuff.

I honestly think they’re not going to pull a Marvel here, and own up to this no matter how it runs. But I think it would have been a ton better if it had been his mother. Don’t get me wrong, having Jor-El as Mr Oz is a huge turn for the comics, but I think his mother snapping and starting shit here on Earth would have been better.

I really hope you’re right. And as for the term “pull a Marvel”, I find it very unfortunate how that expression is understood by anyone who has been reading Marvel in the past few years. I used to love Marvel comics, but they just slid downhill once they decided to change something big every other issue. I’m just holding onto hope that they’ll use Marvel legacy to get a clean restart, and not mess everything up this time

I think they will get their crap back together with Marvel Legacy. Shouldn’t be hard as long as they’re willing to go back to the Marvel ways of old.

True, but his mother didn’t really play a major role on Krypton. While his dad was like their leading scientist. So I personally think Jor El has more motivation to be pissed at Earth. Especially since he choose Earth.

I don’t understand how can jor-el be alive after all these years? Why didn’t go find Clark and tell him he was alive?

Plus why wait until now to reveal himself?

I’m really hoping Mr.Oz turns out to be a major villain or something, it be a really good twist to the Superman Mythos.

My real question is that, why did he ‘kidnap’ Tim Drake just before he was about to die? And why did he keep Mr. Myxypitlik (Pardon the spelling) locked up?

I think it’s good to see Jor El after so many years ….. but why is talking about that he sent him on wrong place .. he doesn’t wanted to send to earth , so where does he wanted to send Superman ….. and in my opinion Superman is the gold of DC Comics .. variant is the best 🔥🔥😎

I want to know if Jor-El has more powers than Superman. And I have a feeling he will be like Zodd. Not a murderous dictator but a more apathetic alien who doesn’t care if humans die or the bad guys die. It’ll be an interesting conflict with his son, who has more Kent values than the El family ones.

I’m still not convinced this is the “real” Jor-El. I still think it’s Ozymandias that Manhattan is using to weaken Superman. Just like he used Thomas Wayne to weaken Batman in “The Button”. Those seeds of doubt are now planted in both characters minds to throw them off their game when its fightin’ time. All of a sudden both Thomas Wayne AND Jor-El are back somehow? Hmmmmm…..
